London, August 19, 2025 – The International Maritime Organization (IMO), a specialized United Nations agency, will participate in the London Blue Economy Roundtable, an international event aimed at accelerating the transition to a sustainable blue economy. The event will take place on September 8, 2025, at the United Nations Association UK (UNA-UK) headquarters in Whitehall, London.

A Key Meeting for the Blue Economy

Organized by the International Green Trade & Commerce Association (IGTCA) in collaboration with The FuturED Institute, the Roundtable will bring together experts, policymakers, investors, and entrepreneurs to discuss practical solutions in critical sectors such as maritime transport, fisheries, and marine renewable energy.

Key topics include:

  • Technological innovation for a cleaner and more efficient ocean.
  • Sustainable financing to drive green projects in the maritime sector.
  • Climate resilience, strengthening oceans’ capacity to adapt to climate change.

IMO: A Global Commitment to Oceans

The IMO’s participation highlights its role as a global leader in maritime sustainability. The organization has recently participated in international forums such as the United Nations Ocean Conference 2025 and the Blue Economy and Finance Forum in Monaco, promoting strategies to reduce emissions and encourage international cooperation in ocean governance.

“Our commitment is to transform the maritime economy into a more sustainable and resilient model. Events like this allow us to share knowledge and generate concrete actions worldwide,” said an IMO representative.

Innovation, Cooperation, and a Sustainable Future

The London Blue Economy Roundtable will provide a platform to exchange ideas, establish partnerships, and promote innovative projects that transform humanity’s relationship with the oceans. The IMO’s participation is expected to advance practical solutions and reinforce the global maritime sustainability agenda.
