SOCIAL IMPACT POLICY

DRIVING SUSTAINABLE TRADE THROUGH SMEs

At the International Green Trade and Commerce Association (IGTCA) — The Green Chamber —, social impact is centred on empowering small and medium enterprises (SMEs), which form the backbone of the global economy.

According to the United Nations and the World Bank, SMEs represent approximately 90 per cent of all businesses worldwide, generate 60 to 70 per cent of employment, and contribute around 50 per cent of global GDP.

Yet SMEs operate in an increasingly complex and fragmented international environment. Rising regulatory divergence, shifting trade dynamics, supply chain disruptions, geopolitical uncertainty, and accelerating sustainability requirements are reshaping the conditions under which businesses and governments operate.

In this context, IGTCA works at the intersection of enterprise and policy, supporting both SMEs and institutions in navigating complexity and advancing sustainable trade.
