As the International Green Trade & Commerce Association (IGTCA) prepares to support the IV International Roundtable on Technologies for Sustainability on 21 October 2026 at Maryculter House, Aberdeen, the confirmed speaker programme reflects IGTCA’s core mission: to bring together not just visionaries, but practitioners, those whose work demonstrates that sustainable business is not a future aspiration, but a present reality.
The event will open with a keynote address from Andrew Bowie MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero. His participation underscores a truth central to IGTCA’s work: sustainable development requires alignment between policy, business and innovation. It is not the work of any single sector alone.
The speaker programme that follows reflects that principle. Myrtle Dawes OBE, Chief Executive of the Net Zero Technology Centre, brings decades driving innovation in offshore energy, innovation that must eventually find its way into market. Matt Browell-Hook from Spirit Energy speaks to the commercial and operational realities of energy transition at scale. Paul Hennessey at Amentum and Ryan Menzies at Apollo Engineering Consultants represent the entrepreneurial dimension, those translating technology into sustainable business models.
Dr. Alan Lowdon OBE brings the research and innovation perspective from offshore renewable energy. Graeme Rafferty at Offshore Energies UK (OEUK) addresses a question IGTCA believes is central to sustainable trade: how do we ensure that businesses of all sizes, particularly SMEs and supply-chain partners, can participate in and benefit from the energy transition? Richard McGowan from Fathom Group and Donna Sutherland at Veri Energy contribute operational expertise from different corners of the sector.
Nirmal Chauhan, Technical Sales Engineer at Intelligent Energy, brings the ground-level perspective of practical technology deployment, the work that turns innovation into infrastructure.
Prof. Ian Thomson from the University of Dundee, Emeritus Professor of Accounting and Sustainability, provides the academic and accountability dimension. His work on measuring sustainable development, on creating frameworks that connect financial systems, stakeholder engagement and real-world impact, speaks directly to IGTCA’s belief that sustainable trade must be measurable, verifiable and built on integrity.
What emerges is not a collection of expert talks. It is a conversation between people working at different levels of the same fundamental challenge: how do we build trade systems, supply chains, and markets that create sustainable value? How do we ensure that those systems include and benefit all participants? How do we measure what matters?
Over three previous editions held at the Caledonian Club, the Royal Air Force Club and the headquarters of UNA-UK, the Roundtable has established itself as a rare space for honest, cross-sector dialogue. This year, moving to Aberdeen and the North of Scotland, a region with unmatched energy expertise and the industrial capability to lead the transition, promises to ground that conversation in practical reality.
Aberdeen 2026 will be the most significant edition yet, and IGTCA is proud to support it.
